‘All things go, all things go’
If you could choose nine people
who have been important in your life
who would you think of?
'Ertussen' is the second part of a trilogy* in which Elena examines through which hands a human life passes.
In this performance, her narrative voice changes form to pay homage to what takes place on the margins. Accompanied by a group of musicians and a visual artist, she presents a theatrical concert. Together, they sing about and conquer the space between birth and death. Elena thanks nine key figures who have been significant in her life so far by singing a song for them.
*The trilogy consists of birth - life - death. You do not need to have seen the first performance Begin.

'In 2017, Elena paid a visit to Texas' most heavily guarded prison.
There she met three death row inmates with whom she wrote for a year.
In a dazzling three-week road trip through one of the most conservative states in America, Elena searched for beauty.
Beauty behind prejudice, beauty in the arid plains of Texas and beauty in those who are no longer entitled to a second chance ... '

In Attends, attends, attends... (pour mon père), the son has an imaginary exchange of thoughts with his father.
...
The son reveals himself as Charon, the ferryman that prepares the father for the last passage. He knows death like no other. Like the performer he has become, he’s a specialist in dying.
...
For this solo, Jan Fabre was inspired by the life of Cédric Charron, a performer with whom he has been working closely since As long as the world needs a warrior’s soul (2000).

A woman has invited several people over to her home.
She shares her bed with them but she can’t sleep. She soon wanders around blindly and has an asthma attack from all the whirled up dust and lays in a coma for three days.
In Non-Tutta, the grand Anne Tismer, takes a humorous look at the out-dated image of hysteria and opens it up for a contemporary interpretation. The room becomes an arena for her rebellion, space is created to reflect on the phenomenon of stillness, withdrawal and silence as an escape from reality.
A crowd favourite from last year is back on the program!

'Hoe Durven Ze' is a web series based on the bestseller "Hoe Durven Ze - The euro, the crisis and the big hold-up" by Peter Mertens.
'It is a crisis so we all have to tighten our belts. In this episode we discover that apparently this does not apply to everyone.
In 5 episodes, we look for the winners and losers of the euro crisis. Above all, with the question: which Europe do we want?'
Besides stock music, a lot of music was used that was composed by Fritzkopf (Domien Holthof and myself) for this series.
Please take the time to view all episodes via the (Vimeo) links below.
It's a great docu series!

This installation was installed at 'De Nachten' in De Singel and at Studio Herman Teirlinck.
Another Sleepy Dusty Delta Day (2008)

photo : Troubleyn
In 2008 Jan Fabre created "Another Sleepy Dusty Delta Day", a theatre/dance solo, for the Croatian performer, Ivana Jozic.
The title is taken from the legendary 1967 hit, "Ode to Billy Joe", by Bobby Gentry. Speculation is rife about the open storyline in this mysterious country song, even today.
...
The theme of forbidden love and suicide constitutes the starting point of the creation of "Another Sleepy Dusty Delta Day" for Jan Fabre. A swelteringly hot, dusty kind of day. A story about loving and letting go, about jumping into the endless unknown.
...
The outcome is a truly personal text, which emphasises the right to dispose of one's own life, specifically the end of one's life. A text that bears witness to empathy and respect for live, love and death.
